Green tax exemption for Energy Star Appliances

Coming in April is a little gift from the state for Energy Star appliance shoppers (items such as energy efficient refrigerators, washers and dryers, air conditioners and furnaces are elgible). Mark your calendars now for the the new "Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday." The "holiday" will run from April 19 through April 25 each year. The first $1,500 of Energy Star certified new appliances will be exempt from the state sales tax. Governer Blunt says Missouri is just the fourth state to enact such a tax break!

The legislation also allows income tax deductions of up to $1,000 for home energy audits and the implementation of their recommendations. Feel free to call us at Sage for leads on reputable companies who do energy audits. These audits can be money well spent on homes finding their energy costs slowly rising (that's most of us). Small, relatively inexpensive changes to your house made as a result of the audits can result in significantly lower monthly utility bills for years to come.
